• The healing of two blind men

The healing of two blind men at Capernaum, reported only by Matthew (Mt 9.27-31), illustrates messianic faith: the two men recognize Jesus as ‘Son of David’. Jesus heals them according to their faith and asks them to keep silent, wishing to direct the crowds toward eternal salvation rather than toward physical healings. This account prepares Jesus’ answer to John the Baptist in Matthew 11.5.

Matthew 9.27-31 (King James Version) :

They said unto him, Yea, Lord. Then touched he their eyes, saying, According to your faith be it unto you.And their eyes were opened; and Jesus straitly charged them, saying, See that no man know it.But they, when they were departed, spread abroad his fame in all that country.
